POVERTY ERADICATION
Income Generation
The hotel has a policy to purchase produce,
dairy, fish and poultry from local subsistence farmers.
Job Creation
The resorts expansion over the years has also brought about growth and
creation of various types of self-employment opportunities.
Vocational Training
The hotel is a placement center for students studying Tourism, i.e.,
Hotel Management, Food and Beverage, Front Office Management, etc. |

ECO- TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
Eco-Tourism Development
The hotels organic waste
is recycled to the local farmers, whilst the paper/ plastic and glass items
are sent to manufacturers.
Installation of a boiler
and calorific system produces hot water for all the rooms thus reducing the
need for non-renewable energy and energy costs by 30%.
A sewage water treatment
plant re-circulates the water in the gardens.
Energy saving lights have
been installed in the public areas.
A tree planting policy is
in place for VIP's/repeat guests.
An exercise to educate the
Beach traders will be launched soon in Ecotourism and Marine conservation to
impart information to the guests during the reef/beach walks.
PROVISION OF SOCIAL SRVICES
The Pre-primary Program
The resort built a Pre-
primary School and to date over 300 Kikambala children have benefited from
the program (40% girls).
Government School Support
Guests of the resort have
donated over US$50/000 in school supplies and literature.
Health Clinic
This initiative provides
primary health care services. To date/ over 15/000 patients have benefited
who otherwise would have had no access to affordable and quality health care
in the area.
Water Provision
Approximately 5000 Liters
per day through the Municipal water source is provided to the Community at
no cost.
Place of Worship
A place
of worship has been provided.
E-school
The hotel In partnership
with MICROSOFT Consortium initiated the E-School project at Kikambala
Primary School /the first of its kind in Africa.
Protection of Children
The hotel signed a MOU
towards protection of children. |
